TRAIN TICKET PAYMENT
Payment methods
- Carte bleue
- Visa
- MasterCard
- American Express (not accepted for iDTGV tickets)
Secure payment
TGV-europe uses SSL encryption technology to ensure all payment-related data is protected and to offer you maximum payment security.
SSL encryption involves an exchange of keys between your computer and our server. This exchange takes place as soon as you access the payment pages.
You pass to secure mode and all data exchanged from this point onwards is accessible only to your computer and our server.
This interaction guarantees security during your whole session on the site.
For added security, the SNCF uses SIPS (Secure Session Initiation Protocol) developed by ATOS, the European leader in secure payment systems.
Security alert message
Once your bank transaction has been completed, a message tells you that you are entering a non-secure area. This message window is generated by our browser.
When making a payment on the TGV-europe site you access pages which are completely secure.
Be reassured that, once you have completed your transaction, you will leave the secure payment pages to return to the site and enter your booking reference.
The message displayed on the payment page merely tells you that you are leaving a secure page (payment) to a non-secure page (booking site).
Payment refusal
As soon as you have entered your card details (16-digit number without spaces, expiry date and security code on the back) the SNCF payment site passes these details to the bank authorisation centre for payment authorisation.
As a security precaution, if you enter the incorrect details your bank card will be blocked for 24 hours.
AMEX cards: the TGV-europe site permits a maximum of 2 on-line payments per day
Debit from your account
The time taken for the payment to be debited from your bank account depends on the terms and conditions of your payment card:
You have an immediate debit card? The payment will be debited from your account within 48 hours.
You have a deferred debit card? The payment will be debited from your statement at the end of the month.
Virtual payments (e-cards)
An e-card payment card allows you to pay for your Internet purchases without having to disclose your bank card details: each on-line purchase is assigned a different bank card number which can be used once only.
To make an e-card payment, you must submit an activation request to your bank before making your purchase.
To pay for your booking with your e-card on TGV-europe, select the free home delivery or print your tickets at home option.
You cannot opt to retrieve your tickets at a station if paying by e-card because this option requires you to present the actual card used to make the payment.
A message will be displayed on the payment page if you select collection from a French station, self-service terminal or Rail Europe Boutique.
You cannot pay by e-card if you are purchasing a Main Line ticket and a ®iDTGV ticket at the same time.
